This is Nick & Brenda, they have been married for last 35 years and very enthusiastic pair to be seen on gym floor!!
In my line of work, often couples show up for counselling and in most cases we get to hear the same thing. “I immensely love my partner but feels like something is missing”. I am sure you either felt this or heard it from a friend.
Love is the main ingredient of any relationship but it’s not enough, people start to realise this in any relationship within a short span of time. The relationship which has weathered many seasons will definitely have some common goals whether it’s just meeting the ends, travelling together, building a house, sending children to college, planning for their marriage, retirement etc.,
This is how traditional relationships have been surviving “By working towards common goals”. Though these traditional goals are important and help building a relationship they eventually turn into responsibilities and the couple starts losing the Joy in being together.
If you want a fulfilling relationship, find out common goals which will bring pure joy to both and Pursue them together without thinking of their material value or gains. There would be thousand differences between you but there will be at least a thing or two which can make both happy. Forming goals on those common grounds and aligning your energies towards these goals will definitely bring back the Spark in Relationship!!
